Last night we celebrated an incredible evening at the Isle of Wight Sports Achievement Awards, recognising outstanding achievements from our Island Games athletes and teams.

Huge congratulations to:
Sophie Beardsall – Outstanding Individual Achievement at the Island Games
Isle of Wight Sailing Team – Outstanding Team Achievement at the Island Games
Sailing Team – Overall Sports Achievement Senior Team Award
Tony Burton – Overall Sports Achievement Award Coach of the Year.

We also heard from Kevin Winchcombe, Chair of TeamIOW, who reflected on an unforgettable Orkney Games and looked ahead to the future.

“The Games provided Island athletes with the opportunity to compete at an international level… many of whom had represented their countries at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.”

“I am extremely proud to say that TeamIOW were successful in winning 16 medals… All team members represented the Isle of Wight in a way which we should all be very proud of.”
